At Baby's BestFeeding, I believe another woman's support during labor is a wonderful option available for new parents-to-be. As your doula, my job is to be there for you in the capacity that best fits your needs. My doula services are as follows:
The Interview
We believe it is important for us to meet and have a chance to visit with each other so that we can see how we "fit." Therefore, you and your partner are invited to visit us in our office. As we sit together surrounded by soothing music in a comfortable environment, you have an opportunity to get to know us. This is a FREE one-hour visit.
The Forms
Once you have made the decision to employ our doula services, we encourage you to print out the following forms so that you can fill them out prior to our first official visit. This will save us a lot of time so that we can concentrate on getting to know each other better.
Getting to Know Each Other
Our first official visit will be in the comfort of your own home. There I will be able to get to know you and your typical surroundings. Then I will be able to know how I can make your home into the perfect atmosphere for the delivery of your child. IF you choose, this is also a great time for your personal childbirth class ($25 discount with doula services). Deposit of $200 is due.
Visit you Health Care Provider
We visit your doctor or midwife together to give us a chance to get to know each other before labor begins. This appointment in one of your regular scheduled visits and should ideally be at or prior to your 34th week. Full payment is due ($600).
Birthday
As your doula, we will be on-call for two weeks before your due date and two weeks after your due date. As soon as you feel labor has started, you will give us a call so that we can make arrangements on our end to attend your birth. We will come to you whenever you and your partner will like our presence and stay with you for 2-3 hours after the birth of your baby. During this time, we will provide you with our expertise as a massage therapist with massage techniques that are ideal during labor, comfort techniques as needed, support, and lots of encouragement! If you wish, I will also be available to take photographs during and after your birth. After your birth, you will be there to make sure that breastfeeding gets off to a good start as the two of you learn the dance of breastfeeding.
The Lactation Visit (optional)
Since breastfeeding is a learned art, some parents may need additional help. As international Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC), we will, at your request, visit you again at the hospital or in your home for a complete assessment and evaluation of breastfeeding. When this visit is done prior to the 4th postpartum day, you will receive a $30 discount with doula services. Payment for this visit is at the time of services and insurance will be billed.
Tea Time
At approximately 10 days after your baby's birth, We will visit you and your new family at your home for a cup of tea. Mom will get a wonderfully relaxing and healing postpartum massage while dad has and opportunity to spend with their baby. We will share your birth story, pictures, and memories of your birth! If you received the optional lactation consultation, you can have a follow-up at this time at no extra charge. We will weigh your baby, take a few pictures and say goodbye.
